Appointments

diaryThere are two female and two male doctors in the practice and you may choose which of the available doctors you wish to see. This is by appointment in advance whenever possible. All doctors appointments are available online, visit link above. It could also be made at reception or by telephone on 020 8769 2566.

You may at any time request to see a doctor of your choice but in doing so you must be prepared for the fact that they may not be available at that time. You will however be able to request an appointment for when they are next available.

TELEPHONE APPOINTMENTS

If it is difficult to visit the surgery but your would like to speak to a Doctor

Try our telephone appointment system

  • For non urgent problems ask the receptionists for a telephone appointment with the doctor of your choice.
  • For urgent problems, to speak to a doctor on the same day, a call can also be arranged.

Doctors at Valley Road Surgery wish to improve access for advice for registered patients. Improving availability for telephone advice seems a good way of doing this.  It allows people to review problems without a visit to the surgery which we hope will be helpful for patients as well as doctors.  Not all issues can be successfully managed with a phone call but many can.  Doctors and nurses have a lot experience in assessing problems by telephone.  The total amount of availability of doctors and nurses has been increased for this scheme.  In other words we have not reduced appointments availability to allow for this service.

Urgent Appointments

If you have an urgent problem it is advisable to telephone the surgery first and you will be given a time to come to the surgery. It is always best to do this early in the morning (8.30 - 10am) if possible. If all the appointments are full you may be given a time to come and wait and you will be fitted in as soon as possible.

The doctors try to run on time but this is not always possible. Please help us by being on time for appointments. If you do arrive late for an appointment it is possible that you will not be seen.

Cancelling Appointments

If you cannot keep an appointment please inform us as soon as possible so we can offer the appointment to someone else.If you cancel an appointment at extremely short notice it will be viewed as a missed appointment as no one else can benefit from the cancellation.

If patients are late for appointments or miss them altogether, it causes problems to the smooth running of the surgery and this deprives other patients of appointments. We will therefore write to you if you are often late or regularly fail to attend appointments and may ask you to register with another practice.
